A diferença entre “Amend” e “Emend”

Em inglês o termo Amend pode significar várias coisas:

(1) to change for the better,
(2) to put right, ou ainda
(3) to alter by adding.

Seu substantivo correspondente é amendment.

Emend significa to improve by editing (especially a text). Seu substantivo correspondente é emendation

A palavra inglesa Emend é rara, e a maioria de nós nunca precisou usá-la porque ela não se encaixa fora dos contextos relacionados à escrita e edição.
